Well…
The multiple Pulitzer prize-winning outlet Page Six reports that the president of Hearst Entertainment, Scott Sassa, has been canned for sexting.
Allegedly, Sassa, who is single, enjoyed quite the social life, and had a bad habit of sending salacious texts to his lady friends. One of them, a Los Angeles-based stripper, attempted to blackmail him, and when he didn’t cough up the cash, forwarded the texts to his bosses, who promptly gave him a golden handshake.
Obviously, we don’t have enough of the facts to do anything more than speculate, but the case raises many interesting questions. For example, should your insalubrious private life be something that you should get fired for? Is sexting worse than making crass comments, because it’s in writing? Is Scott Sassa a victim in this situation? Should Sassa have paid off the stripper?
The Page Six piece ends with a fantastic anonymous quote: ““Hearst prides itself on being a very ethical, clean-cut company. William Randolph Hearst must be rolling over in his grave.” William Randolph Hearst, who lived for decades with a mistress? Clean-cut like the cover of Cosmo?
