Group of Death play resumes today.
Surprisingly, Denmark is in a position to qualify for the knockout stages with a win. A draw might be satisfactory too, as 4 points might just be good enough even if they lose to Germany in their next match—especially if Germany beat the Netherlands later today.
Portugal needs to win. There’s nothing else to say about the matter. After a tight 1-0 loss against group favorites, Germany, Portugal needs to put up 3 points today or their chances of qualifying become bleak.
Otherwise, the usual set of questions are all there. Will Cristiano Ronaldo finally step up and score some goals? Will Denmark pull off another improbable upset? Do they even need to? Should they just play for a draw and cross their fingers that Germany gets it done against the Netherlands.
In any case, you would think that the pressure is all on Ronaldo. He has the ability—more than anyone else—to change the outcome of this game. Will he?
